Pecha Kucha – Art of Small Talk “Public Engagement”

The young artists of today will be the torch bearers of cultural and creative activities of Pakistan tomorrow. Their beliefs, practices and manifestos will shape the spirit of our time and future of our upcoming generation. It is important to create visibility and give voice to the creative individuals and promote their practices emotionally and intellectually.

The art and design community in Islamabad is isolated from the rest of the country and a lot of individuals rely on resources, support and connections in other cities to sustain their practices. We want to create means to bring these young creatives together to introduce, support and network with each other over an evening of Pecha Kucha style sharing of their ideologies and

The Pecha Kucha style of presentation has been devised in Tokyo and has been used across the international cities of the world by designers and creatives to showcase projects and share ideas. The Pecha Kucha style is a system of building a presentation of 20 slides for 20 secs each (20 X 20). Each presenter, hence, gets a total of 6.6 mins to share their idea and introduce their work. We will have a min of 6 and a max of 8 people presenting their Pecha Kuchas over an evening of 1-2 hours on a regular basis.

Art of Small Talk is a collective of people from different backgrounds of art and architecture to just sit and talk over a cup of tea about our work, how we work or just simply to listen to others. It is just a meeting of like-minded people who want to have a chance for productive conversation, get out of an artist block or need help in developing their work. Small talk is designed to give people a chance to network, creating a bridge to conversations about opportunities. When aiming to network, small talk puts people at ease, draws them into conversation, and creates a comfort zone so that you can build a relationship with them. Heres a link to art of small talk:
